A rose is always the perfect gift. You can use it to say I love you, I’m sorry, Happy Birthday, thankyou, and so on. Information about prices and delivery destinations on this site Store, on my Etsy shop, or on my DaWanda shop. You can order a single rose or a “bounch” of three roses.
I make four variety of copper roses. Difference is due to petals colour: natural copper coloured petals, natural and ageed coloured petals, fire-worked petals and light-blue coloured petals.
Various colours are obtained with different processes, as ageing, or using chemicals. All these procedures have been developed during my work experience.
The creative process is always the same: first of all I observe nature, and take shots of the “model”. I also measure it, and whenever it is possible I also dissect it in order to understand how it is actually made. The thought of dissecting such a beautiful flower may sounds a bit sad, and if fact it is, for me at least. For this reason I try to take as much information as possible from the one “model” and photos.
Then the proper creative process start and I turn reality into a first sketch of my new copper item. This means making changes, adding somehing and taking away something else. The output won’t be a mirror of reality: it’s just my personal view, or rather my way to put into light those features I mostly loved.
Roses are made made with copper pipe, wire and sheet. They are assembled by meltin, gluing or riveting. Then roses are set on a base made with wood and copper (so they won’t need a vase).
Despite being treated with chemicals to get ageed, the product is safe to be touched and won’t change colour as it is covered with a special film. If needed, they can be removed from the base (it isn’t glued). Each item approximately measures: 40 cm (lenght) x 25cm (width) x15 cm (h).
However, since they are artisanal handmade products, their peculiarity is being unique, that is you cannot have one item just like the other! In fact, this is the thing that makes all (!) artisanal and creative works so precious.
I leave you some advice that you should follow treat well an handmade copper item:
- don’t try to bend the stem: you might not be able to get it back to the original shape (a copper pipe can be bent twice at the most!)
- if you need to change petals shape use little twezeers.
